René Swarttouw (b. 1964 in The Hague, The Netherlands) is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics of the VU University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Swarttouw is mainly a teacher of mathematics and has published a few
papers on special functions and orthogonal polynomials. He is coauthor
(with R. Koekoek and P. A. Lesky) of the forthcoming book
Hypergeometric Orthogonal Polynomials and Their 
-Analogues,
to be published by Springer in 2010.
Swarttouw is coauthor of the following DLMF chapter
